Tiny Toy Shop Heuristic Play Classes for Parents, Babies & Toddlers, Term 1, 2025

Tuesdays, starting on 4 February.  Last class Tuesday, 8 April 

Class times:

Birth - 6mths, 9am-10am
6mths - 18mths, 10:30am-11:30pm

If you have a baby/toddler, or family member or friend with one and would like to gift them the treat of a lifetime, book now!

The tiny toy shop is tiny and so are our play classes. We greatly value the relationships made between babies/toddlers, their families, and the open-ended play materials in our play environment and for that reason we do not offer one-off classes.

These classes have been designed to be interactive and social to build relationships between parents, children, and the use of open-ended materials.

During the 10-week programme some of the aspects of heuristic play we will cover are:

-    How to support children to experience and explore the properties of everyday objects and materials in an open-ended way.

-    Develop an understanding of how children construct their own understanding and meaning as they use, investigate, explore, and make discoveries with objects and materials in their environment.

-    What to expect as your child develops their primitive reflexes and schemas by repeated experiences that allow them to develop their own ideas and thought processes.

-    Ideas and experiences that can be easily set up at home with found objects, natural materials, and open-ended play resources.

Many of our families love them so much they re-enrol each term!

We have signed up again as each week is new yet familiar, each session has different elements such as nature, water, colours and so on.  We have got so many brilliant ideas of play spaces to create at home.
